God is God, All by Himself.

We can never understand or fully comprehend His Infinite Being. However, there are some things that He has revealed to us that will help us grow in His Grace. We can understand His Nature/Essence/Attributes and we can study His Word. Following are helps:

The Attributes of God:

Omniscience-all knowing, never not knowing

Omnipotence-all power, none greater

Omnipresent-everywhere all of the time

Sovereign-the greatest authority, none greater

Love

Immutable-can not change

Veracity-can not lie

Eternal-no beginning, no ending

Righteousness + Justice EQUATES To INTEGRITY

This means that we should always study the Bible from the perspective of who God is and never from ourselves. If we read anything that contradicts the Attributes of God, we should examine it more closely and apply the personal rules of Bible Study:

There are two main divisions of the Bible.

The basic rules of interpreting is to understand the science of interpreting or hermeneutics

Every text must be taken in the light of the total content of Scripture, the Bible does not contradict Itself.

Take note of who is being addressed in the text. Primary applications can extend only to the individual or group to whom the Scripture is addressed. The use of dispensations will be helpful.

One of the important considerations in the exposition of any text is to consider the immediate context. Scripture, which precedes and follows any given verse helps the reader understand the verse itself.

Similar teachings elsewhere in the Bible, a theological statement made in one verse will be harmonized elsewhere.

Accurate exegesis of the words of a particular text is helpful. This involves the use of definitions, symbolism where applicable and sometimes knowledge of the original language of the Bible. Words should be given their literal meaning unless the context indicates that a figure of speech is intended.

Guard against prejudice. This is one of the most critical areas. As humans we typically try to identify Scripture with our ability to rationalize for our personal lust patterns. We will take Scripture and comprehend it to justify thought deeds or ourselves.
